WEA held an estate sale on June 14, 2008 with all proceeds going to Windsor Endowment for the Arts.
Creative Cities Walk - May 19, 2008
Windsor Endowment for the Arts (WEA) invited you to come, you came, and we walked together to celebrate 119 years of a creative city, and one that we believe in. Thank you everyone for the support on May 19 in celebrating Windsor's birthday at the Riverfront Plaza. WEA raised over $1000 to benefit the arts community thanks to you!
This spring, WEA called or emailed cultural groups to participate in Windsor's birthday walk and party. The response was fantastic, demonstrating that Windsor is a creative community with many energetic community volunteers.
Thank you to the 17 arts groups who walked with us. Thank you to the thousands of people who celebrated our creative community. Thank you Mayor Francis for your leadership in making this day possible.
Michael J. Farrell Award for Education in the Arts - November 9, 2007
Congratulations to Merry Ellen Scully Mosna, recipient of the Michael J. Farrell Award!
The 2nd Michael J. Farrell Award for Education in the Arts was presented at the Art Gallery of Windsor's Friday Live on November 9, 2007. The award, named for Michael J. Farrell, a dedicated advocate for arts education and founder of the University of Windsor's Honours Art History program, is part of WEA's Arts Leadership Award program. Its goal is to recognize artists working in Windsor and other individuals who have enhanced the environment for the arts in the community.
The Life and Architecture of Albert Kahn - October 26, 2007
Professor Michael Farrell provided insight into the life and work of Albert Kahn in a slide illustrated lecture in the Betty Wilkinson room at the Art Gallery of Windsor which also included a formal reception catered by Bamboo Catering.
Albert Kahn Architectural Tour of Detroit, Michigan - September 29, 2007
SOLD OUT! What an event! A varied group of art and architecture aficionados, guided by the inimitable Professor Michael J. Farrell, enjoyed a tour of Albert Kahn architectural treasures - hidden in full view throughout downtown Detroit. The bus departed from Windsor, with an additional pick-up in Detroit and included a gourmet boxed lunch from Atlas Global Bistro in Detroit.

Civic Celebration Walk, 2007
Really Great Mischief, 2006
Windsor Endowment for the Arts and University of Windsor in partnership with St. Clair College hosted Really Great Mischief, a fundraiser in the ceilidh tradition, in honour of Alistair MacLeod. Featuring Cape Breton song and dance, readings by Alistair MacLeod, delicious Maritime food and a silent auction.
CarTunes on Parade, 2005
CarTunes on Parade, the first international, public art exhibition between Windsor and Detroit, exhibited over 100 sculptures from June through September, 2005. The car-shaped sculptures were auctioned off and proceeds benefited the artist, Windsor Endowment for the Arts or the YArts program at the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, and the charity of the bidder's choice.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation awarded $30,000 to Windsor Endowment for the Arts for the CarTunes on Parade project. This grant funded WEA's Educational Outreach Program that included sponsoring two full-size sculptures created by the Canadian public at community art events, two full-size sculptures created by area high schools, and the packaging and distribution of instructional CDs to schools in Windsor and Essex County.
Michael J. Farrell at Foxley, 2004
A small intimate group celebrated Olde Walkerville as Michael Farrell conducted an architectural tour along Devonshire Road from Riverside Drive to an Albert Kahn designed home built in 1908. This English cottage style with its picturesque half-timber second storey has an imposing triangular gable to the left of the front entrance. The estate name, Foxley, is inscribed in the horizontal timber above the entrance and completes the effect of the country cottage image it was intended to portray. This home received national attention when Kahn’s design was published in The American Architect and Building News around 1910.

A tour of Professor Farrell's historic home in Detroit, Art House, allowed the public to view this registered home built in 1870, and its comprehensive private art collection.
Michael J. Farrell Awards Ceremony, 2004
The afternoon reception for the Michael J. Farrell Award for Education in the Arts was held at Willistead Manor, Walkerville. Edward Chandler Walker, Hiram Walker's second son, completed this elegant Edwardian mansion in 1906. The name, Willistead, is a memorial to his older brother, Willis, who died in 1886. The most imposing residence in Walkerville, it was designed by Albert Kahn during his early period of major domestic architecture and exhibits his attention to detail.
Take Time for the Arts, 2002
Take Time for the Arts produced a two-part event, including a public exhibition of artistically designed clocks in a commercial gallery in downtown Windsor, and a gala evening featuring music and an auction of creative clocks by local artists. Both events emphasized time as an artistic concept and as interpreted by visual artists, culinary artists and musicians.
The culinary talent of three women chefs was highlighted: Marian Staresinic/The Cooking Studio; Mary Ann Marshall/Cooking at Foxley; and Deborah Waugh/Bistro in a Box. Music was presented by the University of Windsor Jazz Ensemble.
An Affair for the Arts, 2002
An Affair for the Arts highlighted a gourmet dinner at NOI Restaurant complemented by special auction items which included a Japanese Tea in an historic house; a commission for a watercolour portrait by Yeqiang Wang; a commissioned sculpture by Joseph DeAngelis; a murder mystery play written by Dr. Ross Paul; and a dinner for eight created by well known Windsor chef Joseph S. Petrinac.
More Than a Wine Auction + Artful Bottles, 2001
Windsor Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, Windsor Region Branch, presented More Than a Wine Auction, an auction of Fine Wines, Spirits, Gourmet Dining, Holidays, and Artful Bottles. This event was held in Casino Windsor's Promenade Ballroom. Added features: A video highlighting local artists and heritage buildings and interactive choreography with guests by Gina Lori Riley Dance Enterprises, a local dance company.
The Artful Bottle, 2000/2001
In partnership with the Arts Council Windsor & Region, Windsor Endowment for the Arts presented a week-long, free, public exhibition of The Artful Bottle, wine bottle sculptures created by artists from the Windsor area and the Odette Sculpture Park.
Artful Junque, 2001
Artful Junque, a yard sale with elan was organized in a large riverfront park to provide increased awareness of WEA and the arts.
Wine Auction, 2000
Wine Auction, held at Essex Golf and Country Club, featured "Wines of the Millennium,'
tastings of rare and superb vintages for a limited group followed by an auction of Rare Wines, Trips, Dinners, Theatre, Cooking Courses, and Artful Bottles sculptures.
The Ribbon of Friendship Sculpture, 2000
The Ribbon of Friendship sculpture installed adjacent to The Art Gallery of Windsor is part of a collaborative exchange between Changchun, China, the City of Windsor's International Relations Committee and Windsor Endowment for the Arts. WEA assisted in the fabrication of the sculpture The Ribbon of Friendship by Dr. Yin Xiaofeng of Changchun.
Celebrity Pumpkin Carving and Auction, 2000
Outdoor Habitat, a Windsor retailer, hosted the Celebrity Pumpkin Carving and Auction event in collaboration with the Arts Council Windsor & Region. The public was invited to participate in both the carving and the auction. Elementary school children participated by entering a scary story contest. Funds raised were shared between Windsor Endowment for the Arts and a local theatre company, Mackenzie Hall's Purple Theatre.
Arts in Motion, 1997
Arts in Motion, a walkathon, encouraged participation by the general public, to unite art and exercise.
Artful Wrap, 1996
Artful Wrap event was a partnership with WEA and the artist's market Arthouse. Held the month prior to Christmas, artists wrapped gifts in exchange for a donation. The event raised public awareness for WEA.
